KB1047 - USB Settings
The R Series ECU's use a high speed USB port to interface with your laptop or tablet. The first time you connect your ECU you will have to select the correct port number in the software to match the hardware settings of your computer.
To check the port number that has been asssigned by your computer you will need to open the windows "Control Panel" and locate the serial device.
If you are unable to locate the Control Panel app then type the name in the search bar and windows will locate it for you,
Your ECU must be connected to your computer with a USB cable for it to show in the device list. It does not need as 12v supply as it is powered directly from the USB port.
If the assigned port number is greater than 8 you must change it to a value in the range of 1-8.
If you forget to change the latency timer value the ECU will connect but will generate an error each time your try to download a map or any logger data.
The Editor software must now be configured to match the windows port settings.
You software is now configured to connect to your ECU. You can use the "Ctrl T" short cut key to re-connect to the ECU if communications is lost due to a power cycle or cable disconnect .
